I looked all over for dragon cake ideas but the choices are limited in Paris, France. Luckily, I found the Wilton Dinosaur cake mould at a specialty store, so I made a devils food cake with that, and another chocolate bundt cake, from which I cut the tail, the wings and the ear for this Fire Breathing Dragon Cake Design. I made white buttercream icing, and tinted the green and yellow for the body and sides. For the Kelly green, red and black details, I used Wilton tubes of decorating icing. I’m not very good at piping stars, so I spread the green frosting and then made scales with the back of a small fork handle. I added some depth with a green color mist, and added sprinkle sugar for accents.
The birthday message, number 4, and the fire I made with fondant and red licorice string candy. It took all day, but it was fun!
