My daughter’s first birthday had a flower theme. This Flower Birthday Cake was great because all the older kids just grabbed a flower and didn’t have to wait to be served.
I made a carrot cake in a springform pan, but a round layer cake would work well too. I iced the cake in green cream cheese frosting, sprinkled with coconut dyed green for grass. I made brownie flower shaped cupcakes out of little tin moulds, normal mini cupcakes would have been just as good cause you couldn’t really see the “ruffle around the edges.
I froze the brownies so that they would stay on the sticks. I stuck each cupcake on a candy apple stick that I had painted with green food colouring. The cupcakes should be made out of a really dense cake so they will hold up on the stick. Make sure you put the cupcakes on the sticks before you ice them, they’re too hard to put on the sticks once they are iced (we learned that the hard way!
