I made this flower cake for niece Kar’Leigh’s 3rd birthday. She had no desired theme so my sister and I decided to make a flower cake. The bottom tier was 12×3 round pan, the middle was a 10×3 round pan and the top was an 8×3 round pan.
I leveled each cake with fishing line. Very important especially when stacking cakes. I made a flower pattern on a piece of paper for each tier and put the pattern on the cake and cut around it. The bottom and middle tiers had dowels in them for support and the middle and top tiers were on cake boards cut to fit their shape.
The frosting was homemade buttercream colored with Wilton gel colors. I also colored the cake batter pink. I baked sugar cookies on Popsicle sticks and stuck them in last minute so they wouldn’t fall off. Overall it was pretty simple to do and my niece loved it.
