My daughter asked if I could make her a cake that looked like the fairytale Neuschwanstein castle in Germany. Initially it was sort of a joke but I took it on as a challenge and made her a German Castle cake.
I made the towers out of thin butter cookie dough and rolled them onto a dowel to cool and harden. I put it together more or less like a gingerbread house. I used sugar cones for the peaks on the towers and the trees below are cookie trees that I decorated with green icing.
The base is the real cake portion. I used white cake with lemon filling in the center ( that’s what my daughter wanted).
Instead of covering the entire castle with icing I chose to outline most of the details around the castle. After I finished I dusted the entire thing with powdered sugar for that snowy look.
Everyone at the party loved it and was amazed at the likeness to the German Castle.
Beautiful and realistic! 5 stars.
That is really awesome. Well done. :)
