Cool Homemade Zebra-Striped Gift Box Birthday Cake

My girlfriend asked me to make a cake for her friend’s birthday. All she told me of this friend was that she was a wild, crazy and fun gal. I had creative license with the cake and this Homemade Gift Box Birthday Cake is what I came up with.

This was my 3rd time working with fondant. It’s a homemade marshmallow fondant, flavored with coconut. The white flowers are made of fondant as well, but the bow pink flowers are made with gumpaste, flavored with cinnamon.

I made the bow and flowers a day ahead to allow them to set. The bow is assembled on top of the cake with tempered pink chocolate.

This is a very easy cake to make, just time consuming with all the little details. But lots of fun!
