I made this Girly Monkey Cake for my little monkey for her first birthday. I got the general idea from this website (so helpful). I did a few things differently. I used Oreos for eyeballs which made it easy to get a round look. I made it out of banana cake with chocolate chips and just used whipped cream cheese frosting for the icing.
The thicker consistency of a banana cake made it easy to carve and ice. I used one whole small container of Wilton brown icing coloring for this, and I wish I had more to make it a bit darker.
