This golf cake was made for the “1st Annual DVC Birthday Open”, a golf birthday for three 12 year old boys, Daniel, Vinny, and Caleb. They were giving out baseball caps for party favors with the tournament name and date.
The cake was 3 layers, all three frosted with light green icing. The bottom layer was a 16×3″ marble cake and had a golfer boy made from fondant, a lake made from piping gel, and a sand trap made from white sugar crystals.
The second layer was a 10×3″ chocolate cake and had a green made from fondant with a flag made from a white Popsicle stick and fondant with the letters DVC.
The top layer was a 6×2″ vanilla cake and had a replica of the party favor baseball cap, made from a giant muffin covered with fondant. I wrote the words with a food coloring marker.
The cake was accented with pine trees made from sugar cones and royal icing. The golf balls and tees, and golf bag came from a store bought candle set. I also used fondant letters (made with tiny fondant cutters) to write the name of the tournament across the cake board.
The parents didn’t want to cut the cake, but all the boys in the tournament loved the cake and enjoyed eating the golf course!
How many adults would this cake feed?
