I love this website and used it to spark my ideas. To make this grand piano cake I cut out cardboard in the shape of the cake with enough extra to allow for frosting. I then used 1/2″ dowel cut into 3 1/2″ pieces for each leg. My husband screwed the legs into the cardboard and painted them black with black spray paint.
I covered the base with wax paper where it would be touching the cake. I baked two 9×13 cake pans, one chocolate one white. I then layered them and cut out the piano shape. I cut off a section of the top layer for the keyboard. The bench is made out of left over cake pieces. The lid on the piano is made from cardboard with a piece of black construction paper glued to the bottom.
I frosted the lid to match the rest of the piano and used a kabob stick to hold it open. Then I finished everything with a nice coat of frosting! I made it for a close friend who is a very talented pianist.
I love this cake!! Thanks for sharing.
