I made this Guitar Birthday Cake for my grandson’s 7th birthday “Rock On” party. The body of the guitar is a sheet cake trimmed into the shape of the guitar and the finger board is rice krispie treats. The treats allowed me to shape the neck just like a real guitar!
The entire cake is covered in a crumb coat icing and then fondant. I used fruit roll ups trimmed very narrow for the strings and Mentos candy for the tuning keys. I made drum sticks, stars and guitar picks out of fondant, and I covered a Little Debbie brownie with fondant for the iPod. I made them a few days earlier so the fondant could “set” and harden a little.
This was a real hit and really not that hard to make!
