This guitar cake is a huge endeavor and labor of love for my 16 yr. old rocker son. This is a full scale guitar cake, white/Chocolate Marble.
I used 2 – 18 x 22 sheet pans. I used one sheet for the body. Carved the shape and the indention’s for the input and pickups. Decorated this part first. Iced it first with buttercream icing and let set. I had prepared the fondant days earlier (I make my own, tastes MUCH better). Rolled it out to 1/8in or as thin as I could get it and place on cake.
I used professional airbrush color for cake and airbrushed the red. Let set for 1 hour. In the meantime I cut all the stripes and placed those. Everything you see is edible and made out of fondant, except for the string (which is thread). I paid close attention to detail as to make this guitar so realistic, some people didn’t even realize it was cake.
I baked the second cake the next day, prepared it the same way, cut to shape: neck and headstock. I then airbrushed it lightly with brown. While that set, I paid attention to the detail needed for frets and the dots and touched up on the entire cake. When the 2nd cake was complete, I pieced the two together. They were already on two cake boards, I just put them together on an aluminum foiled 2×4 piece of thin plywood ($3.24 at LOWES).
It was amazing and tasted just as good as it looked.
This is an amazing cake! WOW! I’m speechless!
Wow! It looks like you could just pick it up and start playing it!
Freakin amazing!
