I made this simple Hamburger Cake Design for my father’s birthday. The bun is made of vanilla cake baked in a 10 inch round pan for the bottom, and in a glass Pyrex bowl, to give the rounded shape to the top. The hamburger is actually brownies, made in a 10 inch round pan.
I used colored marshmallow fondant to make the lettuce and tomatoes, randomly placed. I used vanilla buttercream icing between the layers, and actually wanted it to show as mayonnaise. I colored the buttercream icing to frost the “bun”, then topped it with rice krispie cereal for the sesame seeds. I baked the cake and brownies the day before decorating, and also had the fondant already made.
The entire cake went together in about 30 minutes. With many tastes, textures, and colors, it was a big hit.
