My niece loves Hanna Montana and really wanted a special cake for her birthday so I tried making a Hanna Montana Guitar Cake. I went to Toys R Us and took a picture of the Hanna Montana guitar they had for sale with my camera cell phone for inspiration.
I used a Wilton guitar pan but I thought the neck seemed too short so I added a small of cake to the neck to make it look more proportional. After frosting the cake I covered it in purple marshmallow fondant that I then painted with luster powder for the metallic look. I cheated with the Hanna Montana lettering because I knew I’d never be able to make it that nice by hand so I bought a doll for my niece and cut out the cardboard lettering on the box of the doll and used it on the cake – SO much easier than trying to do it myself.
I then molded fondant to look like the rest of the guitar components and painted the pieces with metallic silver luster powder. The guitar strings are thin spaghetti painted with the same metallic silver luster powder. The stars are pre-made sugar stars I bought from my cake store.
That looks GREAT!!!
