My good friend’s daughter was having her 6th birthday and I volunteered to make the Hannah Guitar Birthday Cake, really didn’t know what I was in for, but it turned out great and she loved it. I have made several cakes over the years, but this was by far the most difficult.
It took six cake mixes to make and 2 and 1/2 bags of powdered sugar. My son has a small electric guitar that I modeled this after, so it is lifesized. It fed 40 people. I never thought I could ever do anything like this, but my friends and family assured me that I could make a living at it, but I would never want something so enjoyable to turn into work.
I would love to do this as a job, but I am very insecure about my work. The thought of someone paying for it and not liking it is too much for me. So I thought I would put it out there for the world to judge and I would really like to know what people think. Thanks and I really appreciate your website.

I am a regular contributor to this site. You have real talent and you can definitely take this up as a profession. Listen to your family. The most important thing you need for cake decorating is patience and you have that otherwise you would’nt be able to make this cake. ALL THE BEST.
I too am trying to do something with cakes and feel I am not good enough, but my family tell me all the time you can do it. By this cake here you have nothing to worry about. It is really really good. So good that I am thinking of doing this guitar for my daughter’s boyfriend’s daughter this weekend. Thanks for the inspiration.
I agree with the other 2 comments … Your guitar cake is awesome! (also inspiration for me). I’m in the same boat as you also. I have decided that I want to makes cakes to sell but I’m going to do it low key for now and see how it goes!
I have known Susan D my whole life she is amazing; your comments are greatly appreciated. She did the most amazing job! The best part is the cake was edible. I had a cake made and paid a lot of money for it, it looked good but you could not eat the cake it was horrible. My only advice to anyone, you can make beautiful cakes but remember people unfortunately have and want to eat them.
