I have three boys, so I was delighted when I had the opportunity to make a “girly” cake for my friend’s daughter. She requested a Hannah Montana Birthday Cake.
For this cake, I made a 9-inch round cake, iced it in pink buttercream, and covered it in pink fondant. I used cookie cutters to make 5 stars to put the candles in, and one extra star with the number 5 on it. I dusted the stars and some of the border and her name with silver lustre dust.
The guitar I made from a mold, using purple candy melts and chocolate.
Hannah Montana is a cutout from a birthday party invitation, which I reinforced on the back with a few Popsicle sticks to keep it straight, and to insert into the cake.
The border was made from tinted fondant, rolled into balls and thumb-pressed onto the bottom edge.
