This hearts engagement cake was a first attempt to impress. I made a 12in square cake for the bottom and a heart for the top, both in chocolate cake. I then crumb coated with a butter icing. I rolled out my fondant rolling over the roller to lift over the cakes.
As I work full time I found the use of ribbon and pretty material flowers to compliment the occasion. I used thin Kebab sticks as support under the heart. I decorated each layer separately then assembled, adding bottom layer of ribbon to top tier last.
