My daughter is Sanrio crazy and all she wanted for her birthday was a Hello Kitty Birthday Cake and since nobody sells it around here, I decided to make her one. I started with a red velvet cake with cream cheese butter frosting (recipe from food network website). I used two 9″x2″ round cake pans. I enlarged a clip art from the internet, printed it and shaped the cake accordingly.
I then rolled out a white sugar fondant and covered the entire cake. I used black jelly beans for the eyes, lemon drop for the nose, black Twizzlers for the whiskers, red fondant and yellow M&M’s for the bow. I also made a rope border from the remaining red fondant to cover the bottom part of the cake.
I brought the cake to school and my daughter’s face just lit up and she had the biggest smile when she saw her cake. Everyone said the cake was amazing!
