I started this Hello Kitty Cake by stacking 2 9-inches round cakes, and putting a layer of butter cream in between. I crumb coated the cakes with butter cream, smoothed the icing, and chilled the cake. I then covered the cake with store bought fondant that I tinted pink.
The Hello Kitty image is also made out of fondant. I printed a picture of Hello Kitty from the computer and used it as a template to create the image. I surrounded Hello Kitty with fondant cutout flowers, with a sugar pearl center. I also used some edible pink sparkle dust to accent the flowers.
I trimmed the cake with a ribbon of white fondant, and also covered that in flowers. I used tinted fondant to write “Happy Birthday” on the cake board. I made this cake upon request for a friend’s teenage daughter.
