This is a Hello Kitty cake I made this past weekend for my daughter’s 5th birthday. She said she wanted a Hello Kitty cake and I knew it had to be pink (everything has to be pink ;). I looked for Hello Kitty cakes at the local grocery stores that I could order and the few I did find I didn’t like.
So I started searching and found this site and got inspired! I didn’t want to attempt a shaped cake just yet. So I made a two layer 9X13 funfetti cake with strawberry jelly in the middle. I used store bought icing in the tubs for the cake and the cupcake icing in the can with the interchangeable tips for Hello Kitty, the writing and the borders.
I used a picture I printed off the internet as my guideline for Hello Kitty. I also used jelly beans for her eyes and black licorice for her whiskers. I think it turned out pretty good for a first-timer and it was a big hit at the party! But most importantly, my daughter loved it!
Thank you so much for this idea and posting it. I am going to steal it from you as my daughters 5th birthday is coming up in 4 weeks and she too wants a Hello Kitty theme. I do not have a lot of money to spend so this will also help me save some! Thank you!
