This High School Musical cake is a 20 cm chocolate cake layered into 3 with chocolate ganashe filling. My recipe for the chocolate cake which is so easy is: 250gms of sugar, butter or margarine, flour, either SR flour plus 1 teaspoon of Baking Powder, or if you cannot buy SR flour like me than add 3 teaspoons of Baking powder, 3 tablespoons of best cocoa, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 4 eggs and a little milk, put them all in a bowl and beat the living daylights out of them with a hand held electric mixer for around 3 minutes.
Then pour into 2 20cm sponge tins just greased and lined on the bottom and bake in the middle of the oven for around 20 mins at 160-180 but I am a bit sketchy on the oven temps as mine does not work! But suffice to say a moderate oven until the edges begin to just shrink from the sides.
Cool and then place in fridge until really cool. Make chocolate ganashe and layer cake into three with it. Cool again in fridge. Then put some vanilla buttercream on top of cake and then cover with fondant icing. I make my own. MMF is also good to use. (But I can only get pink ones here!)
Find a good picture of the HSM kids from the internet and then print and laminate and cut out the silhouette which you can then use as a cut out to make the black fondant icing strengthened with gum tragacanth silhouette for the cake.
Phew! Sounds like a lot of work but it is not really. Cut out the letters for HSM and when dry glue onto the cake. Pipe small dots to represent lights on them. Cut out some musical notes and signs. Cut out the name of the recipient. Make some curtains and arrange them onto the cake in the best way to fit round the letters and then place the silhouette on the cake.
If you can put the name of the recipient on the silhouette itself. This looks best but if too long then it can be added on the board. Sprinkle with glitter or sparkles and then tie a musical or other ribbon round the cake to finish it.
Where on the internet did you find that picture?
I would appreciate if you send the site to me
Thank you I had no luck in finding it/
