This was my first attempt at making a fondant cake. I have just completed the Wilton course and decided to go a little crazy. I made this Hogwarts Crest cake for my brother-in-law for his birthday. He is a huge Harry Potter fan.
I used just a box cake from Duncan Hines and Wilton Fondant. I made a shield template out of cardboard and then used it to cut out the shape. I used homemade icing for the animals on the shield. The Harry Potter figure is made out of Fondant as well and was a pain to make because I’m not too sure how to blend the different pieces together.
Over all it was fun to make and has me jazzed to continue with my cake decorating plans.
