For my Butterfly Birthday cake, I baked a round cake, froze it, and then cut it in half.
I placed the two halves on a cookie sheet, the round sides facing each other. After frosting the cake, I traced a wing design into the two halves with a knife and then filled in that area with pink frosting. I used a Twinkie as the body of the butterfly and licorice as its antennas. I then added spots for decoration, using purple frosting.
Thank you for this simple but darling cake! My daughter loved it for her 5th birthday!
