I made this cake for my six year old little boy’s best friend. To decide on a design that will fit the picture in the imagination of a child, I asked my 6 year old daughter to draw a picture of a clown.
I baked a sponge cake and cut it out in the shape of the face of a clown. I covered the whole cake with butter icing and then I covered it with plastic icing. This ensures a more ‘finished’ look. The frill around it’s neck is as easy as folding a piece of cloth.
Then I used normal butter icing to do the hair, because this gives a more ‘hairy’ effect. Everybody was amazed that this was not done by a professional.
