I baked a typical round birthday cake bearing Elmo’s head!
I frosted the bottom with red frosting and the top circle with white icing. I then went online and printed out an Elmo head and cut him out. It worked better to do Elmo’s head in three parts: firstly, the big part of the head, secondly, the eyes and nose together, and, thirdly, the pupils.
I used a cake tester to trace around everything and, when I was frosting the cake parts, I put the icing in a small baggy and cut a hole in the corner to direct the icing.
I bought black icing to make the outline much easier.
