For this homemade LadyBug Birthday cake, I used Wilton’s largest wedding pan, 14′ x 3″, to bake three strawberry cake mixes.
I used a deep, 9″ round pan to bake one mix of chocolate cake for the Bug’s head. I covered the body with canned frosting, using a lot of red food coloring; it is probably better to start with a strawberry color as a base.
Thin mints were added for the spots, licorice with hanger wire threaded inside became the antennae and other assorted candies were used as decoration.
