This Homemade Lego Cake was for my son and his friend’s 8th birthday party which they shared (same bunch of kids attending from the same class at school so it seemed sensible to combine).
I made a ‘Death by Chocolate’ cake, the recipe for which I found online by searching for ‘death by chocolate’. The one I use is called Ultimate Death by Chocolate Cake and is amazing. Quite simple to make and it makes a gorgeous fudge-y cake. Yum!! This was a double sized recipe. I iced it first with chocolate butter cream and then rolled out ready colored (yellow) fondant.
I made little Lego bricks out of co loured chocolate. I think in the States it is called ‘candy melts’ – but here in New Zealand we would use white ‘chocolate’ and color it. I then lined the bricks up along the edges and made a couple of little towers of bricks in the center to stick their name flags in.
Nice and simple. The kids LOVED it and all of the guests were very impressed.
