My friend threw a surprise party for her husband with a Hawaii theme. I made this Coolest Homemade Luau Cake. The bottom layer was 11 x 18 chocolate with banana-Bavarian cream filling. The next layer up was a 10 x 3 white cake with chopped cherries/macadamia nuts with pineapple/toasted coconut filling. And the top layer was a 6 x 3 yellow cake with chocolate mousse filling.
I used buttercream frosting throughout, using a Wilton tip #233 to make the grass. The pool of water was done using gel tinted blue. The sand is crushed Nilla Wafers and toasted pecans. The tiki hut is card stock (cut to 2 x 2) covered in toothpicks that I rubbed in used coffee grounds.
The top is just a paper cone covered in raffia! I had a blast making this cake and everyone thought it was amazing!
The Cake was an awesome hit, and it was yummy too!! Thank you Tammy you are a blessing!!
Nice cake! your great!
Hi, love your cake. It’s killing. I’m throwing a bday bash 4 my little sis and I want to use your idea except a little different. Keep you posted!
I want to thank you for the wonderful design of the cake. I had a friends 50th birthday Luau to make a cake for. It took along time to make and decorate but it was a HUGE hit and everyone loved the different flavors. I guessed at the cherries and nuts quanity but think I got it.
Love the crashing wave at the bottom
