This Safari cake was requested by my grandson for his 4th birthday. He was very specific; he wanted a red bottom with a yellow top, square not round.
The bottom layer is a single 13′ x 9′ x 2′, and the top is a 6″ double layer square. I covered it with a buttercream frosting; I used Wilton gel coloring because the colors were so deep that regular food coloring would have thinned the frosting too much. I made the geometric shapes using candy melts and molds. It was an apple spice cake for an early October birthday and it was delicious!
He loved his cake, which, for me, was the most important thing!
