To make this Scooby Doo birthday cake, I used the Wilton scooby doo baking pan.
Instead of icing or frosting, I made a dark chocolate ganache. It was so much faster and easier. The ganache was painted on with a pastry brush so that the features were not flooded and filled in. Instead of black for the nose and outlines, I used melted white chocolate, piped from a syringe.
The collar and tag were made with blue and gold cake baubles, both to avoid the hassle of tinting chocolate and to save time. The tongue was created as a 3D fixture, sticking out of the cake, and was made with tinted royal icing. I shaped it around a tube and, when it was set, placed it on the cake. The cake itself was a basic chocolate cake.
