I made this Homemade Snow White Birthday Cake for my granddaughter, who did ask for Snow White and the SEVEN Dwarfs but, who, I am afraid, only received two!
I covered the board with fondant icing first, and marked out where everything was going to stand.
The house was made using an 8″ square sponge cake which I cut diagonally and iced with fondant icing. The brickwork needs to be done while the icing is still soft and I used the ruler, which I keep specifically for icing, to do this.
Snow White and the Dwarfs were made using a moulding kit which I have found invaluable. I used flower paste to make the models, as they were going to be kept as a reminder of the big day. These can be made well in advance; in fact, it is a good idea to do this so you can be sure they will stand properly. The candle holders were also made from fondant and I used a heart shape cutter.
Good luck if you try this cake. I had great fun doing it and the reaction of all the children at the party was amazing when the cake was brought out.
What a beautiful cake, you must have been very proud when your granddaughter saw it, well done, I am going to try and make a similar one for my daughter thanks for the advice.
