This Horse Cake Design is for my niece’s 3rd birthday. I copied a picture of the horse head from the internet. Then I traced the size of my 12×12 square pan onto a piece of paper. I then drew my horse picture in the square. I traced it onto a piece of wax paper and cut out the shape.
After I baked the cake in the 12×12 pan I put the wax paper onto the cake and cut out the shape. I just used canned icing. After I put on a thin layer of icing I used a toothpick and drew the eye, ear, mouth, nostril and where the mane would go. I then used a star tip and piped the white icing. Then I tinted pink icing and used the star tip and made the mane.
The happy birthday is made from a candy mold.
Very nice work. I like the idea on how to make the template as I was wondering how I would perfect this. My daughter wants a horse cake for her upcoming 8th b-day and I may try this one. Not much time for cake decorating in December and this looks fairly easy and less time consuming for me. Thanks for sharing.
