When my 4 year old grandson, Cruz, wanted a “hunting party” for his birthday, I decided to make a “sweet” deerhunter, a sleepy bear, a cute squirrel, and a nervous deer hiding in the trees. I made the trees out of rice krispie treats and covered them with fondant. The two layer cake was trimmed to look like a little hillside and the fondant log and candy rocks nestled in the grass made a good backdrop for the animals and hunter.
I colored the fondant for all the characters (except the squirrel and log which I painted with colorant mixed with vodka) and molded them a day early so they could set. I cut the wording out of fondant and I purchased the candy rocks at a candy store.
The Homemade Hunting Party Birthday Cake was a big hit with my grandson and everyone. Some said it was too cute to eat!
WOW!! Both my boys would have LOVED this party when they were Cruz’s age!!! We all think this was truly the COOLEST KID PARTY EVER!!!!
