This Homemade Ice Skating Birthday Cake Design took some thinking about, after much deliberation I decided to make the cake out of cereal treats, that’s made with 2oz butter, a tsp honey, a few drops of vanilla extract, a full bag of marshmallows, butter, a jug. Put contents in the jug in the microwave for a few minutes until melted, mix in around 6 cups of rice crispies, it will go very sticky, butter a spoon, then you can press the mix into a dish or shape you want. Put in the fridge for a short while to cool then you can push it into any shape, its really good.
I shaped it into a boot shape, let it set in the fridge, then covered it in white fondant first, then worked out the shapes from a real skate. I used a round stitch maker for the stitching effect. I painted the silver parts with lustre dust mixed with clear alcohol. I used a strip cutter for the laces. I added tylose to the fondant to help keep their shape, the blade I let dry for 48hrs. The boot was very heavy, so I cut the cake to lean the skate onto it, to support the the weight because after breaking two blades needed to not have weight on it.
The blade was stuck on with royal icing to secure it. I then sprayed it with edible glaze to finish off, the snow flakes were made with a cutter. I was really pleased with the result.
i luv the cake. i play hockey
