My niece’s 9th birthday was an ice skating party and she asked me to make her a cake with penguins and snow and an igloo. This seemed to be way above the skill level of any other cake I had made her in years past, so after some internet research, this Ice Skating Penguin Igloo Cake is what I came up with.
Bottom cake is a 9×13 sheet, igloo is cake baked in a bowl, the igloo door is the only part of the cake that isn’t edible (it’s a cut paper towel roll, covered in foil, then iced). Penguins are fondant, sleds are fruit snacks, trees are sugar cones with green icing. Pond is blue gel icing with Junior Mints surrounding it and the cake has sparkly sprinkles to look like snow, and mini-marshmallows as a border.
It was a hit!
