I made this In the Night Garden Birthday Cake Idea for my friend’s son Joseph`s first birthday, he loves Iggle Piggle. Before starting I looked around on similar websites for ideas of where to start – so here is my cake.
It is an 8 inch Victoria sponge with raspberry jam and buttercream. I covered the cake and a 10 inch board with sugarpaste lightly coloured with holly green colouring and covered with orange disco glitter for extra sparkle. Then made the Ninky Nonk train free hand from sugar paste and the characters with a home made silicone mould and painted them with sugarflair paste colours.
After icing the message I glued the Ninky Nonk and characters into position with left over royal icing and put a few flowers on using 2 sizes of flower plunger cutters.
Your cake is amazing, you did a fantastic job, I love it!!
I THINK THIS CAKE IS SOOOO COOL BECAUSE WELL I TRIED TO MAKE A IN THE NIGHT GARDEN CAKE BUT IT JUST DIDN’T WORK OUT CORRECT BECAUSE WELL I WAS SOOOO BUSY WITH MAKING EVERY THING ELSE I FORGOT
How did you make the silicone molds?
you can buy food grade silicone putty which you mix 2 equal parts together and press around what you want to mould and allow it to set – then you can use the mould you have created
