A co-worker wanted an IPOD Touch Birthday Cake for her teenage son’s birthday. All together I was very pleased with how the cake turned out.
After experimenting with fondant, I decided to use homemade marshmallow fondant for the apps. She wanted a black and red “case” so I tinted homemade buttercream (instead of fondant)for better flavor. Over the frosting, I used colored decorating sugar to add sparkle to the IPOD “case”
The apps were rolled out, cut and decorated a few days before, then chilled until ready to place on the cake. Keeping them refrigerated helped them to retain their shape and made them easier to handle.
