I made this Homemade Jack Skellington Birthday Cake just this past October (2010) for my son’s 10th birthday on the 21st, though we celebrated on the 23rd so we could hold the party on a Saturday. With a birthday so close to Halloween it’s no surprise his birthday parties for the last 4 years have been spooky, including a black cake with flaming skulls, two huge cake eyeballs (Wilton ball pan x2) complete with green gumpaste fingers rising up from the cake board to hold them, a coffin cake, and this year, Jack. All requests by my son by the way, and every year they seem to get more complicated!
Got the little black sugar skulls from Michaels craft not thinking I’d use them this year, but they fit in so well, and the candles were black and white, of course.
