It all started when a woman called and asked me if I could do a Jack Skellington cake that she saw on “Coolest-birthday-cakes.com”. So I fired up the laptop and checked out this site, and was inspired instantly. So I told the woman I could do one of the pictures but it wouldn’t look the exact same. She said she had faith in me. So I went to work.
I made a mask of the Bone-man out of fondant as well as the bow tie and coat flaps and let them dry for 2 days. On the day of the pick-up I set up the cake. All that was needed was an 8″ cake and a 1/2 sheet cake. The 8″ cake was 3 layers of cake and 2 layers of filling and the 1/2 sheet was 2 layers of cake and 1 layer of filling.
The icing was buttercream and the results came out to my liking. When her husband came to pick up the cake he was most pleased but the reaction I wanted was not from him but his 3 year old boy. I will just have to wait and see if he did.
