First I covered a piece of board with cloud material. Then I made 120 cupcakes (Choc, white, and yellow for a variety of flavors). Then we traced over our sketches onto foam paper. We cut out the foam paper and placed it over the Jungle Cupcake Cake to figure out the shape of each animal.
We then outlined everything with black icing (a small writing tip is best for the first outline). You want to make up batches of icing and color it with icing coloring. The elephant could be purple or Grey and the tiger could be brown and yellow use your icing colors like paints add them together sparingly LESS IS MORE with coloring! You can always add more but can’t take it back.
Apply icing into outline, then go over outline with a larger writing tip to make it pop out at you. Details are important in the eyes and noses of these animals as you can see the monkey face can really easily turn into a bears face and bears are in the woods not the jungle.
I made this for my nephew’s baby shower and it was the center piece surrounded by cheese and veggie trays and mints I made into jungle animals with the same bold colors, nuts, and fruit bowls.
This has got to be the most awesome cupcake cake I’ve ever seen! My son picked out jungle animal theme for his 3rd birthday, I’d love to be able to do something like yours. Thanks for the great ideas and pics!
very cute!
