I made this Jungle Safari cake for my great nephew’s 5th birthday. I used a combination of several ideas from this site (thanks!) and other online pictures to come up with how I wanted it to look.
The cake is an 11 x 15 yellow sheet cake with buttercream icing, dyed two shades of green. The “mountain” is made from cupcakes cut up and glued together with buttercream icing to make the formation and the water fall is blue gel. I did cover the waterfall area with white buttercream before covering it with gel.
The grass around the bottom of the cake and around the waterfall is done with Wilton tip 233. The rocks are also buttercream dyed gray and made with tip 12. The animals are jungle animals I purchased at Target; with the Lion placed on top of the mountain overlooking his kingdom. The trees were purchased at a local bakery. Jungle icing animals were placed on all four sides of the cake.
The cake was a huge hit!
