I was approached by a friend and asked to make a birthday cake to go with her theme of a “Junk Food Birthday Party ” so what would be better than a cake all about junk food. I made a rich red velvet 12 inch round cake covered in rich cream cheese butter cream for the bottom piece. The top of the cake had a supreme pizza with red chocolate sauce, and fondant veggies, a hot dog , cheeseburger, fries and an ice cream cone.
I added pieces of chocolate and gum for the finishing touch. My niece thought the hot dog was real and told me it was gross that I put it on the cake, so I will let you know all the junk food is made of fondant and hand painted to look real. I made a diner tablecloth over my cake board to give it the true American junk food place feel. I had a lot of fun making this cake and got so many compliments.
