This King Snake cake was made from 2 bundt cakes. Each cake was cut in 1/2 and place end to end to form the snake. A serrated knife was used to carve away cake forming the head and tail.
Using buttercream icing (purchased from a local grocery store bakery by the pound) I piped on the stripes using a small star tip. NOTE: when making red icing, you’ll need a LOT of color gel and when making black, start with chocolate buttercream! I piped on ovals for the eyes, two tiny dots for the nostrils and a forked tongue.
It was a little time consuming, but easy enough for even a beginner to do. The kids LOVED it and it tasted great!
Imaginative! Two bunt cakes. Really a beautiful job!
Wow! lovely cake. I’m going to copy it for my grandson’s birthday in June.
Love your cake and the tip to buy from the grocery store and start with chocolate when tinting black. One comment to anyone using food coloring. Use gloves…my fingers are still black.
SO COOL!
