This is a Homemade Kitty Birthday Cake Design I made for my friend’s daughter, my second attempt using fondant! I started with two 12 inch round cakes, then used a small metal bowl and filled 1/4 way full of batter, this is for the bump for the nose! I used a mini loaf pan and filled half way full of batter, baked, froze and then cut out the ears.
I assembled the cake putting a layer of frosting between, dirty iced it and then rolled out my fondant. I use homemade fondant, it tastes way better than the store bought kind, and is way cheaper. I color my fondant as I go, this way you don’t waste any! I used chocolate wafers for the eyes, and all of the other decoration is colored fondant.
You can make your kitty any color, I choose gray, black and white cause this is the color of my friend’s cat. To make the strips for your kitty the same on both sides of the face roll out and double your fondant. Make sure to use plenty of powdered sugar between layers so they don’t stick, then just peel apart after cutting and you have the same shape for each side.
Have fun and enjoy making this cake I did.
