I did this Kitty Litter Cake for Halloween, however it would be great for a birthday cake also! Some tips for a perfect Kitty Litter Cake is to mix half the cookie crumbs with blue/green food dye (chlorophyll) and to melt the tootsie rolls slightly and drag them along the top and side of the box to make it look like the Kitty had an accident on the box.

My girlfriend was going to buy a supermarket birthday cake for her stepfather and I said I would be happy to bake one instead. I asked what kind he liked and the reply was, “Oh, he’ll eat anything” I’ve heard this comment in reference to him many times, so when I came across this Kitty Litter Cake I figured I’d test the theory. He loved it as did the everyone else there, kids and adults alike. The kids though were the only ones not reluctant to eat the Tootsie poops. He was very appreciative of the time and effort that went into the cake, so I just want to say thank you for a fun idea and delicious cake.
