This Lady Bug Flower Cake was for a joint 1st birthday party of two little girls. One of the mothers came to me with the idea.
I created the lady bugs with the Wilton soccer ball pan – using the halves for each bug. I used the extra cake cut off to make the heads.
I used the #18 star tip to cover the bugs with red/black buttercream frosting. I then sprinkled them with the red/black sparkle dust (Wilton).
I covered mini-Oreo’s with black frosting and black sparkle for the dots on the bug. Black licorice for the antenna and marshmallows for the eyes.
I then covered the cupcakes in green, with smashed marshmallow petals and M&M centers. Black icing to write the names.
simply beautiful!
HI, I absolutely love your lady bug cakes!
I’m making lady bug cakes for a twin baby shower for my sister-in-law, and I was wondering what size of soccer ball pans you used. Was it the Wilton ball pan that is 6 inches diameter or the larger soccer ball pan?
