I made this Ladybug Birthday Cake for a little girls second birthday. If I were to make it again I’d use a different red and double the bottom layer plus I’d add a smile.
I used a 12″ round cake for the bottom layer, covered with the bigger grass tip. The little ladybugs are timbits cut in half. The heads are black icing with licorice for the antenna. The body of the lady bug is the Wilton ball pan. I used the mini ball pan for the head. The antenna are pipe cleaners (bottoms are wrapped with saran wrap).
The eyes are made out of icing. I used the star tip to decorate the ladybugs. My icing is a little bit runny because it was pretty hot while I was making this! But it still looks alright.
The layout is pretty basic and this is a really really easy cake to make! If you double the bottom layer I’d tier the lady bug (dowels and cake board) just in case it were to bulge. However the grass tip will cover bulges!
what are timbits! I love this cake and am making it for my daughters first birthday!
