I wanted to make a Ladybug cake for my daughter’s first birthday. After cleaning up my son after his first birthday Nemo cake, I did not want too many dark colors. So I bought the Wilton cake pan and adapted the colors to match her nursery…pink and green. It just so happens that she has a pink and green smocked ladybug outfit to match! So I just adapted the Wilton directions for these colors and ended up with a precious little ladybug.
The only tips that I have for this project are to watch the pink colors, because they can easily become coral and not match the overall theme. I used “pink” and “kelly green” Wilton colors, but sort of wish I had used “rose” instead. Also, I never seem to remember how much the colors darken after sitting, so always mix a good bit lighter than what you want your end result to be.
