I made this Lego Birthday Cake Idea for my son’s 6th birthday. He is really into Lego’s so I wanted to make him a really cool cake with lots of color.
The bottom layer is white cake with whipped cream cheese frosting covered with orange fondant. The second layer is chocolate cake with the same frosting covered in green fondant. Each layer is on its own board and stacked using dowels to prevent the cake from sinking from the weight.
The top layer is also chocolate covered in yellow fondant. I cut out a small section and used candy blocks to fill in. I covered the cake with fondant and cut a strip that went over the Lego section and rolled up to make it appear the Lego man is getting ready to roll the fondant over.
All the Lego men and vehicles are real Legos, the border is block candy. I had so much fun making this cake and loved the way it turned out. It was a big hit at the party.
This is an amazing cake! Out of all the Lego cakes I have looked at, this one by far is my favorite. Where did you get the Lego candles from and do you always have to do “pre-icing” with some type of frosting before using fondant? I have never used fondant before so am a bit hesitant. Great Job!!
Wow, this cake is so cute. It is definitely creative. Great job.
