This Lighting McQueen cake 3rd birthday cake was time consuming but easy. I used the 3D Car cake from Wilton’s. I used a pound cake mix because it seems firmer and easier to shape. Next, I used yellow, no taste red, and black icing. I used the Tip 16.
After baking I cut some off back window to make the tail fin. I used tooth picks to stabilize the fin. I then just decorated the lighting bolt first, then the wheels, then the rest. I thought I would recreate the Tie Piston Cup race using some remaining cake for the tongue, again using the tooth picks to hold it to the cake.
