My daughter wanted an Ariel Cake for her birthday because she’s her favorite princess. I got a new Ariel doll to start with (this one sings, so it was really cool for my cake topper). I used fruit roll up to make her tail and cover her body. I just baked a regular cake. I made blue buttercream icing to look like the ocean. I used sparkly green fruit roll up for the edges–kind of looks like kelp.
I got some Swedish fish, some milk chocolate rocks, some decorated gummy fish from the candy store and decorated it to look like sea life. The fish stuck to the sides with toothpicks. I dusted the top with blue edible glitter. For the cupcakes, I just iced them with buttercream and rolled the edges in colored sugar. I used Ariel wrappers on the cupcakes and all of them are topped with jewel princess rings. Wilton made the princess cake stand and cupcake stand made of cardboard.
I was pleased how this Little Mermaid Birthday Cake turned out, and my daughter and all the guests loved the cake! My daughter is still talking about her cake.
