This Little Mermaid cake was for my daughter’s 5th birthday. I looked at the Ariel cake pan at Michaels, but I didn’t like it. So I used a coloring page I found online instead. After completing Ariel, I used leftover red and purple frosting to make “seaweed” on the sides of the cake, and piped green “seaweed” along the base of the cake and around Ariel on top of the cake.
If I could do it over again, I’d make the blue background frosting lighter, create more authentic looking seaweed (ran out of time and frosting), and maybe add a Flounder or a Sebastian or some air bubbles.
In any case, my daughter loved her cake. The friends and the grown ups at the party did, too.
